Benefits Of Microfilm Scanning

Digitally capturing the data stored on your Microfilm allows for that information to be easily shared across a network providing multiple users access to multiple documents from multiple locations. The advantages of scanning your microfilm into an electronic format are numerous and include the following:

Productivity

By empowering your employees with the information they need, they are able to complete tasks quickly. Doing so improves turnaround time, increases transactional volume and optimises workflow.

Efficiency

Digital information is simply more usable and practical in today’s economy. It also affords you the opportunity to share, integrate, compare and contrast information dynamically and accurately.

Compliance

Preserving information is one thing, but having immediate access to it is another. Especially when mitigating risk, litigation or validating compliance with industry regulations.

Results

With a Sunrise Imaging solution, your information will work harder for you, with little to no IT investment…providing you with more time to direct your staff and your resources to more profitable, productive areas of the business.
With our ISO 9001:2008 accreditation and over two decades of expertise, we ensure that all of your data is kept confidential, safe and secure and that all of our conversion projects are completed to the very highest quality. This experience is why a large number of organisations entrust Sunrise Imaging to scan their valuable microfilm and microfiche.

Starting A Microfilm Scanning Project

Starting a project can be a daunting exercise there are a multitude of factors to consider and decisions that need to be taken before the project commences. This is where our knowledge and expertise are invaluable. Sunrise Imaging can help manage your project and implement the right solution. We specialise in delivering time critical projects and will quickly and efficiently respond to challenging projects.

True Optical Resolution Scanning – A SunRise Imaging Advantage

At SunRise we only scan microfilm using our own market leading scanners. Our microfilm scanners are capable of scanning at True Optical Resolution technology providing us with the ability to replicate one pixel on the scanner camera for each pixel on your microfilm image. This is attained by optically adjusting the focal length of the camera lens to capture at true image resolution. We do not use digital scaling on the image to achieve the desired resolution. As a result SunRise produce the highest quality scanned images available.

Using interpolation when scanning may create artefacts or image distortions that are not desirable, and can be very detrimental to image quality while also affecting the ability to perform OCR (Optical Character Recognition). Many microfilm scanning organisations claim they have True Optical Resolution, when they in fact have no ability to adjust the optical path for different reduction ratios and DPI requirements. All they have is one fixed setting and can only accomplish different resolutions by scaling or interpolating, which really means to add or remove pixels from the original image. The addition/removal of pixels not only can erode significantly the image quality and the OCR precision but may also constitute a manipulation of the original image that could possibly be challenged in some legal applications.
